James E. Fankhauser

James Emanuel Fankhauser 79, of Mesa Arizona, passed away September 7, 2001.
He was born August 27, 1922 in Wheeling, West Virginia, but most of his childhood was spent in Florida. He enlisted
in the Army in 1942 and was selected for the Army Specialized Training Program (ASTP). He went on to earn a Masters
Degree in Electrical Engineering, taught at the University of Iowa, and worked as an Electrical Engineer for Collins
Radio, Sylvania GTE, and Motorola. After retiring in 1989, he enjoyed volunteering at the Mayo Clinic and being
an Amateur Radio operator with the call sign of W7JWT. He is survived by his wife Ruth; son Jim; daughters Christy
and Kara; and 5 grandchildren. Memorials may be sent to the American Cancer Society.
